Beautiful hideaway hotel on the east coast of Mallorca.

The 17th century Son Mas Hotel Rural might as well have a “Do not Disturb” sign at the entrace, for this truly is an accommodation designed to provide an antidote to stress. Of course, it helps to be located within your own 200,000 square metre estate, in a quiet part of east coast Mallorca. But then there’s the Son Mas itself, a place of luminous quality where even the amber stonewall façade, caught between the green of the land and blue of the sky, radiates a sense of peace. Inside, this lightness of touch and form continue, with nothing over the top to distract the visitor from what’s really important.

Just a carefully measured use throughout of the best in Mallorcan furniture (no more than is required) and a simple, unobtrusive layout in both the public areas and all 16 suites, which are, without exception, ample and airy.

Notwithstanding the peaceful nature of the place there are actually many activities in and around the Son Mas to keep guests busy. Two swimming pools, one in-door and heated, saunas, Jacuzzis are just some of the facilities on hand, whilst further out, sports include boating, fishing and horseback riding.

It is sometimes possible to combine sophistication and luxury with a certain simplicity and in this the Son Mas Hotel Rural is spot on. A treat.
