Ca'n Isabel
Hotel Type: Boutique Hotel
Environment: City
Number of Rooms: 6
Style: Elegant
Ca’n Isabel is a 19th century house half hidden in one of those charming cobbled lanes of Sóller, a stone throw away from the Mediterranean that washes this northwest coast of Majorca. We are at the foot of the Sierra de Tramontana, a mountain range where the highest peak of the island is located: Puig Major (4,350 feet). The Flemish owners, Sebastien and Colette, have decorated this boutique hotel and its 6 bedrooms with all sorts of antiques and collectibles that give it a certain charm and takes us back to those times when people would turn their heads when a visitor came to town.
But our hosts have their feet firmly planted on the 21st century and welcome us with air conditioned rooms that have satellite TV, Internet connection and mini bar. There’s a garden awash with flowers where we can have breakfast, weather permitting, and gather strength for the excursions that this idyllic part of the island will offer us. The capital, Palma de Mallorca, is linked by an electric train that leaves from the hotel and deposits us at the Plaza de España, right in the heart of town, in slightly over an hour of a delightful ride.
A tramway helps go down 2 kms to Port Sóller by the sea – the final stop is by a shingle beach with a maritime bar included. Good seafood restaurants around this area. And an excellent exercise to walk down and up from Sóller.
