Mallorca alone has around 80 beautiful beaches. Some of the best, boasting fine, golden sands and excellent facilities, are to be found in the north and north east of the island. Island hopping can either be done by taking inter-island flights, which are rather expensive, or by ferry boats. In Mallorca, these operate from Palma, Port d’Alcúdia and Cala Ratiada. Mahon, in Minorca, has regular ferries to Palma as well as Valencia and Barcelona on the mainland. The city of Ibiza in this islands main ferry gateway. Once on the island, the best way to get around is by car or bike. There are over 30 car rental companies in Mallorca alone.
