Ca Maria Adele
Venice - Venice
City Break
Number of rooms: 12

Simply put, we think the Ca Maria Adele is an amazing hotel that’s got everything one could wish for in terms of luxury, quality, style and location in Venice. As it unfolds within the walls of an historic 16th century palazzo, the views it affords of the canal and Santa Maria della Salute Church are simply superb. And how about this for positioning! It is also only 1 minute away from St Marks Square. It may not be the cheapest of accommodations but we doubt you can find an equivalent hotel for the price that has retained so much character and personality.

The reason is basically twofold: the staff and the building itself. You cannot get more gracious personnel who are happy to help in any way they can. Recommend a restaurant? No problem. Help with transportation? No problem either. Then there’s the décor. Despite being a typically Venetian hotel liberally using the style of fabrics known as “Damaschi”, it also fuses other decorative styles, including African wood furniture, Cetesan furnishings, Swaroski crystals, damask tapestries and a magnificent, unique chandelier from Murano, to harmonious effect.

And despite the classical nature, it is not afraid to experiment. This is particularly true of the rooms. There are 14 in all, five of which are concept, or themed, rooms inspired by the history of Venice itself and oozing in luxury. The Doges Room, for example, a rich red and glimmering giant of a room, that will make you feel master of Venice (even if only for a few nights), or the Oriental Room, all gold and blue symbolising Venice’s dominion over the sea. Appropriate therefore that it looks out onto the canal. Then there’s the new terrace, ideal for enjoying the great breakfast on offer, or simply enjoying a relaxing drink. Its vivid colours, warm hues and multi coloured glasses are perhaps more in keeping with the Orient then Venice itself, yet still special nevertheless. But that’s the Ca Maria Adele for you. Stylish, not afraid to take risks quite simply superb.
