| Rural Ibiza is a real revelation for those accustomed to thinking of the island as a nightlife hotspot. Much of it is, in fact, peaceful, bucolic and charming and these very adjectives can be applied to the Ca n’Escandell, a small 200-year-old rural house that blends in perfectly with the surrounding trees, cliffs and the natural expanses of es Amunts. The architecture of this hidden jewel is pure Ibizan. Low, white washed walls on the outside, distinctive chimneys (of which there are several, as each bedroom room has one), combines with a perfectly judged decoration that is light and modern whilst taking advantage of many of the houses traditional aspects. These include wood beamed roofs and interior stonewalls, which are themselves part of the decoration. All eight rooms manage to be simple and charming, where peace and nature is the order of the day. Activities are also geared with this in mind. Can Escandell offers free mountain bikes to explore the many hidden corners of Es Amuntes, much of which has hardly been explored and the owners will be only too happy to suggest other things to do such as fishing, boat trips and excursions. We can’t agree more with the house’s unofficial motto. Go on “you deserve it”. |

| Take the road from Ibiza to Sant Joan de Labritja. At the crossing to Sant Miguel, before arriving at Sant Joan and next to the gas station, take the left in direction of Sant Miquel. After 1,5 kms two blue stomes to the left side of the street signalize the entry to a road that will lead you (through a wood) directly to the Hotel Rural Ca n´Escandell. |
