Tavira is probably the Algarve’s prettiest city. It has somehow managed to beat off the hordes of tourism and keep its old market town soul. The river Gilão still flows serenely, the fishermen continue to ply their trade and life seems to move more slowly. Those lucky enough to find a special place in the centre can take it all in. A place like the Casa Beleza do Sul, in fact. This jewel of an accommodation has just two apartments but both are wonderfully attractive and both provide a sense of space and light as well as a mix between the geuine and modern. For example:

The Blue Apartment – a beautiful south facing apartment with spacious living room that dates back to 19th century. The blue walls with white moulds, the old wooden floor and the wonderful old wooden ceiling have been totally rescued and restored. The bedroom serves up an impressive pyramid shape wooden and cane ceiling, called in Tavira a “tesouro” roof. A lot of houses in Tavira present these typical 4-sided roofs which give the very particular and attractive beauty of the town. Does not have direct access to terrace.

The Duplex - a totally renovated apartment providing a huge open space on two levels and a large and welcoming kitchenette/dining area. It comes with a generous living room, whilst an open pine staircase leads onto the spacious bedroom offering views over the typical roofs and blue sky. To add that extra touch of Mediterranean authenticity old rose Tadelakt – a prestigious render from Morocco – has been applied on the walls. It makes for an open invitation to take a long relaxing bath. Direct access to terrace.

It all fits in perfectly with the essence of Tavira and its slow rhythm of life. And with the great beach of Tavira island an exotic boat ride away, beach lovers have a further reason to enjoy the Casa Beleza do Sul.

Golf is one of the main activities of the Algarve and in the immediate vicinity you will find excellent golf courses. All kinds of water sports, boat tours, bird watching, walking tours and mountain bike tours are offered by local companies.

There are also numerous cultural events such as the early European open air film festival, the medieval festival in the castle of Castro Marim, regularly changing exhibition in the Palacio da Galeria, etc….

ll	Tips & Getting There

By car Seville is 1, 1/2 hours away, Lisbon is 3 hours and Faro airport 45 minutes. Bus and train are also alternatives.

From the highway, follow the directions to Tavira. You will come to the N125 when you see a roundabout with a big sailing boat in bronze as a sculpture. Follow Tavira centre which is going in front.

You enter Tavira at that point. You will pass under a railway bridge and come to a roundabout and continue straight ahead. From that poiint the Street is called RUA DOS MOUROS. At the end of that street, turn left going down. The street is naturally right turning. Some 200 metres ahead, in fornt o a square, turn to the left going down again.

You will come to another roundabout with the PASTELARIA TAVIRENSE on your left and the cinema on your right.
Take a small street between these two building: you will come to Rua Dr Parreira.
