The Gold Museum
Travassos' link with goldsmithery is the main trait of its own identity. Knowledge accumulated throughout generations, and secrets shared only among families resulted in a very singular form of filigree workmanship.

Braga
Founded by the Celts in 300 B.C. and a Roman administrative centre in 27 B.C., Bracara Augusta, as the Romans named it, combines the religious importance with today’s commercial and industrial prosperity. To visit: the Cathedral (12th-18th centuries), the treasury and Sacred Art Museum; the museum at the Biscainhos Palace; and the Dom Diogo de Sousa Museum. Also deserving to be visited are the churches of Misericórdia (Renaissance), Pópulo (17th-18th centuries) and of Nossa Senhora Branca (18th century). On the outskirts, 5 km away from the centre, stands the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Sameiro; the ancient monastery of Tibães, dating back to the Suevian period and rebuilt in the 11th century, and the Church of São Frutuoso de Montélios (a 7th-century Visigothic temple).

ll Tips & Getting There
Leave the A3 in Braga, enter the city, and follow the direction of Chaves. After some 12 Km turn right towards Póvoa de Lanhoso. From there, follow directions to Cabeceiras (de Basto). Keep the same route for some 7 Km until you find, on your left, an indication to Travassos. Turn to the village and keep to the asphalt road until you find Casa de Alfena on your left.

ll Client Comments
Please feel free to send us your personal hotel review on this hotel. You may wonder why all the assessments we have on line are positive. Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection.
