Chic & Basic Born
Barcelona - Barcelona Ciudad - Barcelona Hotels and Catalonia
City Break
Number of rooms: 31

If it’s cool you are after, then the concept Chic and Basic Born hotel will provide a great introduction to life in Barcelona, as it’s the sort of place that fits in perfectly with the avant-garde ambience of this great city.

Where else but in Barcelona would a century old building be turned into a super cool accommodation combining a 22 feet high ceiling, and older elements such as tiled floors and marble banisters with rooms boasting colour curtains, crystal showers in the middle of the room (yes, the middle of the room!) and an LED light system. By that we mean that you can change the colours and tones of your room as you see fit, whether it’s the sensual red hues or soothing sleep inducing blue tones. It’s up to you and the mood your in, but whatever shade you choose, it’s really cool. There we go using that word again, but trendy, fresh, seductive and attractive are other adjectives we can conjure up.

Now there’s another great thing about the Chic and Basic that you should consider - the location. It’s right in the heart of the Born district, which buzzes with bars and restaurants and shopping. It may not be the cheapest area of town, but goodness it’s fun and pretty central too. Many of the city’s landmarks are easily reached.

There’s only one thing that we would perhaps take issue with – the name. It’s only half right, in our opinion. As you may have guessed by now, chic it most definitely is, but although there is a certain minimalist feel to the hotel, there’s nothing basic about it. In short, this is a place that is as fun and creative as Barcelona itself.

ll Activities
El Borne is a multifaceted neighborhood: on the one hand it serves up buildings such as the Picasso Museum, the Textile Museum, the Church of Santa Maria del Mar, the França Train Station, the old Born Market, among others.
On the other hand, this is an area in which the most original boutiques of the city have flourished. These are small shops where you can acquire new and promising designs, select brand collections, the latest accessories and the like. This area has become the reference point for the most innovative restaurants and fashionable bars.
Located nearby you will find Ciutadella Park, the zoo, Barceloneta Beach (15 minutes) and the Moll de la Fusta. Ten minutes away you can find Saint James Plaza, Las Ramblas and Plaza Cataluña.

ll Client Comments
Please feel free to send us your personal hotel review on this hotel. You may wonder why all the assessments we have on line are positive. Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection.
This hotel was well above our expectations. Our room was gorgeous, with 'mood music', 'mood lighting' and a lovely white leather love nest built into the balcony. It was very cool and definitely aimed at romantic couples. There is a small gym and little areas where you can sit around the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel. Nearest stop is Jaume metro, with the airport train stopping very close by as well (5 minute walk). The area itself El Born is very up and coming and obviously the trendy place to be, with some very cool clothes shops. The hotel is also 5 minutes walk away from La Citadella Park which is lovely to laze around and go boating on the small lake. Its also about 20 minutes walk to the beach. Antony
