Clos de Bellefontaine is a mid-19th century mansion close to Bayeux, that has been recently restored by Carole and Jerôme Mallet to welcome guests in two ample bedrooms – Elegance and Charme. Elegance, on the first floor, has a king-size bed, an independent sitting room and en suite bathroom. Charme, on the floor above it, has two beds, a bathroom and a slanting roof that makes it very suitable for children. And talking of children, these are more than welcome considering that our hosts have four. Not that we shall see them as they live on a separate building and even the entrances are independent. The whole house is filled with objects d’art and antiques that somehow complement the stately look of Clos de Bellefontaine from outside. Breakfast prepared by Carole is the high point of the day, with a varied menu according to season. But it always features a deliciously homemade “tarte aux pommes”, fresh fruit, cheese selection, orange juice and an assortment of breads. Outside there’s a walled park with secular trees that invite us to walk and ponder how lucky we are to be here. Should we feel like wondering about, Bayeux is a Norman town famous for its tapestries and its cathedral. A large market on Saturday mornings is an ideal place to stock up on great cheeses from this French region. For history buffs, Bayeux is a perfect departure point to visit the landing beaches of the Allied troops during WWII.

Visit landing D. Day beaches (10 KM) either by yourself or with a skilled tour.
Discover The Tapestry (only 2 minutes away by foot) or the Cathedral.

Gastronomy wise, you can taste the world famous Camembert cheese, or enjoy the equally renowned Normandy Cider.

The "Le Mont Saint Michel" is only 1 1/2 hours away, whilst the lovely towns of Honfleur, Deauville are easily accessible from the Clos de Bellefontaine.

ll	Tips & Getting There

Leaving airport on highway A1 you'll take the direction of ROUEN - CAEN by A14, then A13.

2,5 hours later, you'll be in CAEN and then follow CHERBOURG. 30 km after Caen on the highway (N13), you will arrive at Bayeux. Then, take the first exit (N°36) to Bayeux and follow in the direction of Bayeux. At the traffic circle of Eisenhower (with a tall statue of the US President), take the way of the "gare" (station) and just after (20 meters) you'll reach the "Rue de Bellefontaine" on your right. (take care cause on left, you'll find « Le Château de Bellefontaine » which is not our B&B). In this street, go straight ahead, cross a little corner, "Le Clos de Bellefontaine" is the long house on your left. If there is a matter, don't hesite to call us. One other word of caution - watch for the speed camera on the road between Caen and Bayeux in the Rappel 70 zone.
