A new seaside complex close by to an excellent beach. Great for families.
Think of the Algarve and the first words that generally come to mind are sunshine and beaches, in which case a great place to enjoy them both would be the Porto de Mós villas.
This new complex consists of 63 apartments (all of which come with a large balcony or terrace), yet the landscaped gardens, open green area and fresh air provide a real sense of space and feeling of retreat. The Porto de Mós is within walking distance (100 metres) of a beautiful blue flag beach, where it has a reserved area with long chairs and beach restaurant. But it’s not only the location that counts here. Should you not wish to dip your toes in the Atlantic waters, then facilities include a nice swimming pool plus a smaller children’s pool, heated indoor pool, health club with jacuzzi, sauna and gym, games room, restaurant and bar.
As for the apartments, all tend to be homogenously decorated but are comfortable and well equipped with kitchenette, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, central heating on the floor.
Views over the Porto de Mós beach are breathtaking.

Visit Burgau and Salema Villages, intensively developed holiday spots, though one still retains vestiges of its former fishing village live. From Figueira village take a 20-30 min. walk to beautiful Figueira Beach. Often more or less deserted except for a few campers. Further west near the Raposeira Village, visit Zavial Beach and Ingrina Beach. If visiting Vila do Bispo, a fairly scrappy little town whose kernel of old white houses centers on lovely seventeenth-century parish church, don't miss to stop by at Restaurant "Casa Correia".
Monuments in Lagos:
Ermida de São João Baptista - Built in the 15th/16th centuries and rebuilt in the 18th. Its main chapel is constructed on an octagonal floor plan. Praça Infante D. Henrique - This building, which has a symmetrical façade, dates back to the 15th/16th centuries. Igreja de Santo António - Church from the 17th/18th century in a baroque style. There is a Regional museum housed in an annex to the Baroque Church of Santo António and has an archaeological collection from various periods, sacred art, including vestments, crucifixes and images (16th -18th century), Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos - This Carmelite sanctuary was a hermitage dedicated to Saint Peter in Pulgão where a statues of Nossa Senhora das Dores was placed, perhaps in the eighteenth century. Mercado de Escravos (Slave market) - The place where the first slaves brought back by ships from their journeys to Africa were sold (15th century). Four arcades at floor level define a patio. One of the walls bears the arms of the Marquis of Nisa (17th century). On one side, a window (once a door) from the 15th century. Muralhas e Torreões - Walls and turrets of the Castle at Lagos. Still existing are the gates (Porta de Portugal and Porta do Postigo) and the remains of an old palace. In one of the sections of the walls is a Manueline window, from which, according to tradition, D. Sebastião attended an open-air celebration of Mass before setting sail for Alcácer Quibir. |

Please feel free to send us your personal hotel review on this hotel. You may wonder why all the assessments we have on line are positive. Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection:
Our apartment was beautiful and the staff at the Club were very friendly and helpful - we really enjoyed our stay. JH, England |
