The cottages housed within the Los Mimbrales farm started off life as labourers accommodation working in the orange plantations. Though oranges and other fruits, vegetables and cereals are still grown, nowadays Los Mimbrales is a beautifully restored estate providing comfort with a typical Andalusian style and hospitality. The setting is idyllic. The farm is next to the Doñana National Park, a real paradise of nature, and is only some 10 km from the Costa de la Luz with its miles of white sands. It is also only 3km from the world famous El Rocío and its deep-rooted religious pilgrimage, a must see event for those lucky enough to be there at the right time. Each cottage has a small private garden and patio whilst rooms are cooled by overhead fans and protected from insects. The swimming pool and fountains inside the estate have an Arabic architecture and feel to them, whereas the whole area is fully enclosed by a high hedge with an English-style lawn and trees. Activities include mountain biking, horse riding and trekking. One of our favourite Secretplaces and ideal for the traveller looking for peace and Andalusian tradition in a natural setting.

The Doñana Natural Park spreads over the provinces of Huelva, Seville and Cadiz. All together it is an area of great beauty, of considerable geomorphic singularity and of great ecological importance. It possesses different littoral and pre-littoral ecosystems: dunes, lakes, zones of salt marsh, transformed river beds and forest mass where the stone pine predominates along with rockrose brushwood, lentiscus, heather and red lavender.

Take highway from Torcal in direction of Antequera and then Seville. In Seville, follow sign towards Huelva. Eventually, turn left in direction of Bollullos/Almonte/ El Rocio. Los Mimbrales is eventually signposted.

"My husband and I stayed at El cortijo de los Mimbrales in June 2007 for two nights. What a delightful place a little piece of heaven. When we arrived on a hot day we were greeted with a lovely cold drink of freshly squeezed orange juice from their farm. We stayed in some 15 hotels on our 4 week tour of France and Spain however this was the only hotel to add this nice touch. The very helpful gentleman at reception insisted on going with us to our car and took our luggage in the 'cart'. Our 'room' was in fact a small house, with everything in it. We had a courtyard and fountain at the front and a nice seating area at the back. The room also had a small kitchenette with fridge etc. The bathroom was very large with nice toiletries. All the staff were so friendly including the gardeners who greeted us each time we saw them. The grounds were amazing, beautifully kept and the swimming pool was set in a lovely garden and was so different from any other pool we have seen on our many travels. Situated close to Donana Park it was the perfect location. We would love to go back."H A W, England
