This marvellous 140-hectare plot, holds breathtaking views of the Sierra de Aracena Natural Park and is only a few miles from Jabugo – the cured ham capital of the region and home to all kinds of really good natural produce and fine wines.

The owners, who are pig farmers and untiring overseas travellers, have refurbished two of the five farmhouses and adapted them to make a beautiful lodging. The first house, holds a reception, two bedrooms and a small shop where you can buy Iberian delicatessen such as local wines and the acorn-fed Jamón de Bellota ham which is protected by various laws preventing its traditional and respectful production methods from being watered down. It goes without saying that the ham is shockingly good.

The rooms and communal areas have been decorated combining warm tones with whites, ochres and terracottas. In the bathrooms we find pure mahogany pieces brought from Brazil; ceramic floor tiles from Portugal, bronze wall lamps, Italian accessories and beautiful old furniture including ceramic and copper washbasins. The Finca la Silladilla is one of our favourite finds – a work by artisans with great style and attention to detail, hidden away in one of the most beautiful and natural corners of Spain.

Lots and lots of opportunities for nature activities including hiking but Seville is close enough (an hour and a half approx) to take advantage of some outstanding culture and history or indeed add in a trip to Cordoba for the world-famous Moorish architecture and Andalusian style.

ll	Tips & Getting There

From Granada: Take the A92 heading for Sevilla; from Sevilla follow the signs to Huelva/Mérida and after crossing a big bridge over the Guadalquivir, continue in the direction of Mérida (not Huelva) on the N630; after approx. 30 km take the exit towards Portugal/Aracena on the N433; keep on this road until you pass the “El Repilado” village, after which you will find a detour to your left heading for “Los Romeros”, take this detour; the distance from the detour to the village “Los Romeros” is approx. 4 km; the Finca La Silladilla is 3,5 km from the detour and before the village; you will find a wooden sign for “La Silladilla” and the Finca is some 700 meters ahead.
