A hotel to reawaken all the senses
The philosophy of the Five Senses chain of hotels is definitely not one of the build them cheap and sell it high variety. To reawaken all the senses, so to speak. In this, the Golf Hotel San Floriano fits the bill perfectly, with the added luxury of providing history in abundance. For situated on a hill overlooking the city of Gorizia, in an oasis of tranquillity producing some of the countries best wines, the hotel is to be found inside a noble 15th century building, itself in times gone by part of the castle embattlements.
There’s no denying the hotels historic pulling power, its large rooms (each named after a wine of Collio) afforded with large stone fireplaces, wooden ceilings, terracotta floors and original period furnishings, all bringing the old world regal atmosphere back to life. Even the paintings date back to the 700/800s.
Next door there lies the Castle of the Counts of Formentini (owners of the Golf Hotel), which houses a prestigious restaurant, which during the Spring and Summer months regularly provides medieval banquets, complete with recipes and costumes with jesters included (book ahead if interested). To burn off those calories the grounds of the hotel come with a swimming pool, tennis courts and even a golf course.
In short, a truly great place to stay, enjoy and savour. Taste, sight, touch, hearing, smell. That just about covers all the senses at the Golf Hotel.

| The Golf Hotel San Floriano is some 7 kilometres from GORIZIA. From here, Take the VIA FRATELLI STUPARICH for 200 metres. Turn left on VIA TRIESTE and the right for SS56VAR. Continue along VIAL LUIGI CECCOTTI for 400 metres and the turn left at VIA ANTON GREGORIC/SP8 for almost 1 km. Continue along VIA PRIMO MAGGIO/SP8 for another km and turn right on VIA ZANETTE for 70 metres. You will then come to the Golf Hotel San Floriano. |
