The belle époque feel Grand Hotel des Bains is one of those places that does things in a simple, low key way and does them all very, very well. If you want tranquillity, then the quaint seaside town of Locquirec in Finistère is hard to beat. Views of the coast are simply spectacular and take in golden beaches, dramatic cliffs and promontories. Getting to the sea from the hotel is basically a matter of walking a few metres, there is no road in between the two and the route is private.
If you want great cuisine, then the seafood in and around the hotel is superb, as befits what many call the seafood capital of France. It is all based on fresh, seasonal, ingredients. And if you’re thinking of a beauty treatment, no problem, the hotel’s spa is open every day an treatments available in-house include thalassotherapy and massages.
With 36 rooms in all it is not a small hotel and the ample size of common areas amplifies this feel further. But wherever you are inside, be it the bedrooms, which are lightly decorated in soothing colours and furniture (wood is a predominant material) the feel is always one of genteel class. The sort of place a period film or series could be made.
Come to think of it, the Grand Hotel des Bains was the setting for a classic French comedy “L’Hotel de la Plage”. The premise of the film was, according to the producers themselves, about leisure, having a lazy time and romantic encounters.
The Grand Hotel des Bains was certainly a good choice for this.

The privileged climate, superb light and location of the Grand Hotel des Bains provides of wealth of activities. Many writers and artists use it as a base for inspiration. Creative courses are available on request.
There are a number of walks of varying difficulty in the area, many of which start at the hotel itself. A number are truly spectacular taking in coastal paths and the sights and sounds of the area.
This being “Finistère” sailing and diving schools abound, including in the town of Locquirec itself. It is also possible to go Sea kayaking and bicycle hire is available in Locquirec. Boat rides to nearby islands can be arranged and horse riding, golf and fishing are all available nearby.

Le Grand Hotel des Bains lies at the border of the Finistere and Cotes d’Armor regions of Brittany, where the Cote Sauvage meets the Cote Granite Rose. The hotel can be accessed in a number of ways:
By Plane:
Local airports include: Morlaix (20 mins), Lannion (25 mins), Brest (45 mins) and Dinard (90 mins) all of which are served by a variety of carriers from a range of British and French airports.
By Boat:
Brittany Ferries run daily from Plymouth to Roscoff (30 mins) or Portsmouth to St Malo (2 hours).
By Train:
The TGV runs to Morlaix (20 mins), 4 hours from Paris. The Grand Hotel des Bains has a preferred partnership with a local taxi company.
