You can almost feel the la dolce vita running through this ancient Roman Palazzo - as if Anita Ekberg would be likely to stroll by at any moment doing her famous dance. For this is pure Roma, nestled as it is in the heart of medieval "Trastevere," one of the most authentic and characteristic areas of Rome. It is also only a few steps from the River Tiber and close by to some of Rome’s most famous landmarks, including the Coliseum, Campo dei Fiori market, the Ghetto, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. All you have to do is stroll along the Tiber Bridge and basically you’re there. As for the Arco de Tolomei itself, the inside has been fully restored to a cosy standard, the intimacy of a private palazzo mixed with the comforts of a small hotel. Rooms are individually styled and furnished with family pieces passed down through the generations. Each room also comes with a private balcony, a great little touch.

From Fiumicino airport

Catch the train to Trastevere railway station where you can then catch the n.8 fast tram to Piazza Sonnino (100 metres from the hotel).

From Ciampino airport

Catch the train to Termini railway station, where you can then catch the line “H” to Piazza Sonnino (100 metres from the hotel).

The Roma Termini Railway Station is only 15 minutes from the Arco dei Tolomei. Again, catch line “H” to Piazza Sonnino (100 metres from the hotel).

Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection.

We were in Rome for five days and Arco de'Tolomei made the whole experience perfect. The room was big, exquisite and nicely decorated, and --as we had requested-- it had a small terrace wich we enjoyed immensely. Breakfast was just a luxury (homemade pies and all!) and the access to internet a definite plus. Trastevere is a wonderful part of the city, near everyting and a little Rome in its own.
Also Catia and Leena, were helpful and sweet, and Marco welcomed us kindly. Even little Frodo was a a nice surprise! We will definetely go back if this recommendation doesn't book it up forever...
