ll Activities
MUDEJAR ROUTE:
Segura de León, Llerena, Azuaga, Granja de Torrehermosa, La Parra, Zafra, Hornachos etc.
The Islamic culture prevailed in Extremadura from the 8th to the 13th centuries and civil, military and especially religious buildings still remain to this day displaying the mark of this culture, thanks to a artistic style with an undoubtedly Muslim flavour: the Mudejar style.

PREHISTORIC ROUTES:
Mérida, Alange, Jerez de los Caballeros, Hornachos, Zalamea de la Serena, La Zarza, Magacela;
This route allows the visitor to learn about some of the most important archaeological remains in Extremadura belonging to the cultures that ranged from the Palaeolithic Period to Roman times.

ROMAN ART ROUTES:
Mérida, Medellín, Alange, Zalamea de la Serena, Casas de la Reina, Cáceres.
Theatres, amphitheatres, temples, bridges, aqueducts, dams, thermal baths, funereal monuments, roads and magnificent museums can be seen and visited along this route.

LA PARRA
The main square, with its distinct levels, is the heart of La Parra. The City hall and the Parish church of Our Lady of Asunción are located to the front. The former is small, Mudejar in style and doted with arches, whilst the church, with its notable structure and varied morphology, has a distinct façade that adapts itself to the irregular terrain.

ZAFRA
The Alcázar fortress was built between 1437 and 1443 and dominates Zafra.

MÈRIDA
Alcazaba (Fortress). Some of the best examples in Roman, Visigoth and Moorish artistic and archaeological remains can be found here.
National Museum of Roman Art, an authentic architectural example of how to exhibit the artistic Roman legacy; the Visigoth Art Museum - one of the most important collections in Spain.

JEREZ DE LOS CABALLEROS
The two most celebrated conquistadors came from this town, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, discoverer of the Pacific, and Hernando de Soto, the first European to set foot in North America. From the distance one can see the church towers that dominate the old walled town. It is a quiet, unhurried and friendly place.
