| The hotel Aminar may be new, having only opened its doors to the public in March 2005, and the interior design may display an up to date feel having been endowed with all the modern comforts such as air conditioning (so useful in summer), satellite TV and Internet access). Yet it still retains an old world ambience and intimacy. In part this is due to the building itself which is one of the most classical to be found anywhere in Seville, (it was previously headquarters of Spain’s leading Flamenco dress and shawl makers). The Andalusian style patio has also been cleverly renovated with original tiles, making it a great place to take the simple buffet breakfast or simply take a break when you come back from all the sightseeing. But there are other factors at play, not least the wonderful location, some 50 metres away from the cathedral and its minaret from which the hotel got its name (alminar is, in fact, minaret in Spanish). Finally there is the staff, who will do their utmost to make a stay in their glorious city of Seville as memorable as possible. We predict good things to this recent welcome addition to Seville’s portfolio of hotels. |

The Santa Cruz district ( old Jewish Quarter ) lies only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and offers the true flavour of the old Seville with its narrow and winding streets, its gardens, patios and squares with orange-trees. There the visitor can approach the Flamenco dancing and singing at Los Gallos, Plaza de Sta. Cruz, 27. Also interesting are La Carbonería and El Tamboril with live music on week-ends.
For those who love relaxation in an exceptional setting, the Arab Baths ( Aire de Sevilla ) offer their services only 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Also nearby, the Arenal district, gives the visitor a different scope of the city with its streets facing the River Guadalquivir and its world-famous Bullring, La Plaza de Toros de La Real Maestranza de Caballerías de Sevilla. Another good Flamenco show at El Arenal, Calle Rodo, 7.
The shopping is also easy from the hotel. Both the traditional shops of the historical centre or Calle Sierpes and the newly developed commercial streets like Tetuán or O´Donnell where Zara, Mango, H&M and the type are placed.
Around: Carmona
Located in the middle of the countryside, in the midst of a landscape of fields used to cultivate cereals, it is one of the most important tourist destinations of Spain. In the city one can find many interesting remains of all the civilisations which have played a part in the town's history. From a distance the visitor is impressed by the Roman ramparts, which enclose a large number of interesting monuments, such as the Roman necropolis, the convent of the Concepción, the ramparts and the ruins of the Alcázares, the church of San Felipe, the Church of Santa María, the Puerta de Sevilla, the Puerta de Córdoba, along with many other civilian and religious buildings. It is a truly monumental city and one of the most important historical and cultural centres of Andalucía.
The Sierra Norte Natural Park occupies a total area of 164,840 hectares and covers the section of the Sierra Morena Mountain range within the province of Seville between the boundaries Badajoz, Huelva and Cordoba. This area has the highest rainfall of the province, which allows the growth of \"bosques de galería\", with species of flora and fauna of vital importance.
Coto Doñana. One of the most important reserves for migrating birds in Europe. Spreading back from Huelva in vast expanses of marismas-sand dunes, salt flats and marshes. It can be visited by Land Rover tour from the new beach resort complex of Matalascañas / Torre de la Higuera, accessible from Huelva or Seville.
Roman Italica The Roman ruins and remarkable mosaics of Italica lie some 9 km to the north of Sevilla, just outside the village of Santiponce. There's also a well-preserved Roman theatre in Santiponce itself, signposted from the main road.
Osuna Is located 80 kms from Seville along highway A-92 N-334, in the direction of Antequera. It is a ducal village which came to prominence in the 16th century, the period during which its most important monuments, the Colegiata and the University, were built. It has a small archaeological museum in the Torre del Agua and an assortment of palaces dating back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
Estepa is located along the same highway, 110 km from Seville, and its tower overlooks the surrounding countryside. It maintains a walled area and a number of religious constructions. It is famous for its mantecados (lard cakes). It contains some of the most famous neighbourhoods of the city such as Santa Cruz, San Bartolomé, San Vicente, San Lorenzo and El Arenal. On the right bank of the river stands the Arrabal suburb. These are the most interesting areas for the traveller to visit. The rest of the city is built around a series of expansion projects, the most important being that carried our for the Latin American Exhibition of 1929, built along the southern stretch of the Guadalquivir River. The best way to get to Alminar is by taxi as the hotel is in a pedestrian street in the city centre. There are taxis at the Airport which charge approximately 24 euros for the trip to the centre and also at the Main Train Station of Santa Justa (around 5 euros).
There is also a bus transfer from the Airport to the city centre (2.50 euros) which leaves the clients at Puerta de Jerez, just 8 minutes walk from the hotel.
If you arrive by car, the best option is to leave your car either at the Plaza Nueva Public Parking (5 minutes walk from the hotel but, generally, busier ) or at the Puerta de Jerez - Avenida de Roma Public Parking (8 minutes from the hotel, generally easier to get a space ). The hotel is very near the Cathedral so you need to follow instructions to the city centre “CENTRO CIUDAD”. The hotel will be happy to help you if you require.

Please feel free to send us your personal hotel review on this hotel. You may wonder why all the assessments we have on line are positive. Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection:
I felt I must e-mail you concerning my recent stay at the Hotel Alminar in Sevilla Spain. The Hotel Alminar was excellent, the room I booked was as shown on your web-site, the hotel was clean through out, the manager Francisco Naranjo was not only friendly and helpful but knowledgeable of the local area, he very much makes the hotel run like clock work, the receptionist Maria was also helpful and knowledgeable and also great fun. I have never used your company before to book a hotel but I would heartily recommend your company. Your web-pages are easy to use, contain lots of true information about the hotel and location, the on-line booking and back-up of being able to speak to a human voice is helpful and reassuring. Well done one and all. Once again many thanks. RB, England
