| Arcs de Monnels is an old hospital founded in 1364 by the Countess of Empúries. Every room in this medieval hotel is dedicated to a famous painter, musician, architect, historian or writer (for example Salvador Dalí, Josep Pla, Jaume I or Margarida Xirgu). The hotel opened recently for business and has managed to create an intriguing mixture of the old and new. Stone and iron decoration of yesteryear combine with the latest top-notch design to provide history and vanguard design in one go. Additionally, the hotel is located in the attractive village of Monnels with its palpable sense of times gone by - a legacy of the past medieval noblemen and knights, street markets, castles, counts, countesses and kings to have populated this land. A stay here provides the traveller with an opportunity to enjoy open contact with history, nature as well as a varied range of leisure and sports activities. |

From Barcelona airport take the freeway to Barcelona. Turn right after El Prat de Llobregat to Barcelona Rondes (green panels). Continue either via Ronda de Dalt (3 lanes) or Ronda Litoral (2 lanes) - make sure to go in the direction of Besos. Arriving at Trinitat (green panels) follow the signs to Girona (A-17). Exit Girona Nord – Sortida 6 and follow direction to La Bisbal – Palamos (C-66). Before arriving to La Bisbal you will find Corçà, turn right to Monells. When arriving to Monells, follow the yellow panels indicating Hotel Arcs de Monells.
