Hotel Hostal Blau
Peratallada - Girona - Girona Hotels & Costa Brava
Village
Number of rooms: 6

The name, Hostal Blau, does not correspond to hostel in English instead its Catalan origins promote the idea of a small-scale, attentive hostelry. Six rooms in a medieval house complete with watch-tower and furnished with antiques that the owner, Señor Sagué, has collected over the years have now been restored and are open for guests in the very heart of this cute little village that, for an extra bit of peace and quiet, has banished cars to outside of the walls.

Peratallada does attract tourists, and rightly so, it is a beautiful little spot and close by are some of the very best beaches of the Costa Brava, not just the wide bays with tourist developments but hidden coves 15 minutes away in the car that are far less explored and still offer the chance to get away from it all in the heart of Catalonia.

All in all, the hostal is a great little example of a more personalized lodging, a cottage-industry where breakfast is still thought of as an important meal and home-made jams and marmalades are there for the taking. The bedrooms are each unique but they all have a feel for antiques combined with colours. Two of them have open fires, there’s lots of exposed original brickwork, wood, solid walls and comfort here. They are on the small side – remember this is an original medieval house but with plenty of character. One of the rooms also has its own terrace on top of the watch-tower, a great place to sunbathe or have a glass of wine in the evening while looking over the village.

To confirm a reservation the hotel asks for a deposit of 25% of the total stay for fewer than 7 days and 50% if the stay is longer than a week.

ll Activities
As we said, there are beaches close by that are not what you’d expect from the Costa Brava – these are bays, often small coves, that haven’t the infrastructure or the desire to attract significant numbers of people and as such they are far better preserved and much lower in visitor numbers than further south. Many of these can be reached within 15 minutes, look out for names such as Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell, Palamós, Pals and L'Estartit.

Close to the village is the Gavarres National Park with beautiful landscape and possibility for trekking, mountain biking and horse-riding.
Approximately 40km away, in Figueres, Salvador Dalí created the largest piece of surrealist artwork in the world – a theatre come museum that is well worth a visit.
Golf too is also available close to the village and of course water sports are easily arranged.
This region of Spain is also famous for its cuisine, having the luxury of both sea and mountain to provide all kinds of ingredients as well as centuries of experience in Catalan trading routes.

ll Tips & Getting There
Peratallada is sea-side of Girona, approximately halfway between Barcelona and the French border. The AP7/E15 motorway passes close to Girona and whether arriving from the north or the south it is advisable to use Exit 6. Take the C66 for 25km and pass by La Bisbal d'Empordà. Close to Vulpellac, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and continue along the GI-644 until you arrive in Canapost. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and continue along the GI-651, you are know just 1.5km from Peratallada. One of the beauties of the village is that it’s a car-free zone, pedestrians rule so all you need to do is drop the car off in one of the car parks, pop into the hotel where they’ll give you a pass and leave that in the car so you won’t have to pay either!

RECEPTION IS CLOSED FROM 16.30 TO 20.00, SO YOUR ARRIVAL SHOULD BE BEFORE OR AFTER THESE TIMES AND BEFORE 22.00Hrs
