| What makes this small, rustic and recently built hotel an attractive proposition? Is it the thoughtful and ample use of natural products such as wood and stone in its construction? The light that seems to shine in from all angles: the coquettish main hall with its large chimney and library, where bookworms can spend a peaceful reading session? All of these things for sure, but what makes this really appealing is the location. Only 12 kilometres away from beautiful Cuenca, with its famous “hanging houses”, and surrounded by 10 hectares of beautiful woods and a veritable assortment of trees, including pines, cypresses and sequoias. It is an ideal place to lose oneself in at any time of the year. These natural attributes more than make up for any shortcomings, such as the smallish bedrooms and bathrooms, which, by the way, are all named after ecological themes. Decoration is also of the contemporary type and not really true to the rustic tradition but is of good taste and evenhanded. Notwithstanding all this, what will remain in the memory will be those woods, the views they afford and the hospitality of the most amiable hosts you could wish for. |

Ciudad Encantada. 35 km from the town of Cuenca. An interesting area, designated of National interest for its incredible natural rock formations.
Las Torcas. This geological phenomenon is to be found 20 km in the direction of Teruel. It consists of nearly fifty circular shaped sunken pits in an area of six square kilometers.
Cuenca Cuenca is a walker's delight. In fact, you really need to wander at slow and gentle pace to appreciate and absorb the datails of the city.
Hanging Houses. Built on the edge of the Huecar Gorge in the 14th-century, the beautiful wooden balconies of these Hanging Houses seem to be suspended in space. They have become emblematic of the town.
Cathedral. On the Plaza Mayor, in the upper, older town. A Norman-Gothic building begun by Alfonso VIII over a former mosque. The larger chapel and altar and the transept are noteworthy.
The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art. The ground floor of the Episcopal Palace houses an impressive collection of half-modern, half-religious art with exceptionally valuable objects from the cathedral and other churches of the Diocese of Cuenca.
Museum of Abstract Art. In the Hanging Houses. Works by Tapies, Chillida, Saura, Torner and Feito among others.
The Hermitage of the Virgin of Las Angustias. Its visit is a must. It is reached by following an impressive walk between rocks which passes the atrium of Los Descalzos.
The Cuenca Museum. It occupies La Casa del Curato opposite the Hanging Houses and includes the archaeological finds of the province since the Paleolithic period.
Mangana Tower. Former Arab minaret on the promenade where there used to be a fortress. The clock on top was taken from the cathedral.
Suspension Bridge. Made of cast iron and boards, this crosses the Huecar Gorge below the Hanging Houses. Impressive views of the town, the Hanging Houses, and the craggy rivers cape of the Huecar. |

Please feel free to send us your personal hotel review on this hotel. You may wonder why all the assessments we have on line are positive. Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection.
"My wife and I have just stayed for two night s at this delightful small hotel. Only a few miles from Cuenca and set in peaceful seclusion, it was the ideal base from which to explore the area. Our standard rooms were a delight and had everything one could possibly wish for. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who arranged everything from a shaving adaptor to wine in our room. Meal times were an adventure, the menu focusing on local recipes and everything presented beautifully. I cannot recommend La Casita de Cabrejas enough, and we would certainly make a detour to visit this establishment again." DF, UK
