La Hospedería el Churrasco
Córdoba - Cordoba - Andalusia - Cordoba
City Break
Number of rooms: 9

Córdoba is one of the most beautiful and historic cities of Spain and the Hospederia El Churrasco is a great place from which to take in the atmosphere. Not only is it located right in the heart of Jewish Quarter, amongst the narrow, cobbled streets it is also so authentically and tastefully Spanish, or should we say Andalusian.

Now we mentioned “taste” and that is actually the operative word, for the El Churrasco started off life as a restaurant specialising in the “churrasco” (grilled pork with pepper sauce – hence the name). Its fame expanded beyond the confines of Andalusia to become such a popular place that Rafael Rodriguez, the wonderful owner, not only expanded the restaurant but added an inn for guests to stay. Thus was he was able to combine three of his great loves – Córdoba, a city he utterly adores, great food and hospitality in the shape of the Hospederia El Churrasco.

And we must say, all three go together like a hand in a glove. Totally Spanish and decorated with Andalusian furnishings and pieces, the Hospederia just oozes the atmosphere of old Andalusia – even the rooms are named local artists, though modern niceties such as plasma TVs, air conditioning, hydro-baths and Internet come as standard to provide an excellent level of comfort. Of course, this being Cordoba, El Churrasco even comes with two patios to provide extra space to wander in.

Even if guests are not aware of the history of the place, they cannot fail to be moved by the views of the “Mezquita” (considered by many to be the finest in Spain) from the terrace. And of course, they will surely notice the great hospitality afforded by Rafael.

A visit to the "Mezquita", once the main mosque in Spain and perhaps largest of the world, is an absolute must. Of the many other places to visit a trip to the Jewish quarter with the old synagogue as well as numerous historical buildings.
