A mix of modern trends and tradition in the old part of Genoa

In truth, there seems to be a dearth of charming hotels in the interesting city of Genoa and the Palazzo Cicala, though occupying the first floor of a lovely historic building in the old part of town overlooking the Piazza Duomo, is more a home from home rather than a hotel. It is high on classy charm whilst foregoing some of those hotel like facilities.Guests will not be failed to be impressed by the historical architecture on the outside, just witness the wonderful stucco ornaments for example, and the way it links up with the complete restoration inside, one based on contemporary design and minimalist lines. The end result is one of sober lines, modern elegance and even futuristic sofas and armchairs, coupled with a number of period pieces. As for the rooms, these are all on the large side – around 40 square metres - with high arched ceilings embellished with stucco work and décor whilst, offering modern conveniences brought about by the renovation work. All rooms also go out onto the spacious living room overlooking the Piazza San Lorenzo, where guests can sip an aperitif and enjoy the delighful views of the Duomo. Undoubtedly, the Locanda di Palazzo is an interesting proposition for a stay in this rather underated Genoa. Florence, Milan, Venice may be bigger names, but Genoa still has a lot to offer and with the Locanda di Palazzo Cical being so well located in the historic part of town, the end result is that many of the most interesting monuments and places to see can be seen comfortably on foot.

The hotel is strategically situated for tourists and business visitors to Genoa alike. In fact, Locanda di Palazzo Cicala is in the very heart of the historic city centre, opposite the Duomo, and gives onto the sixteenth-century Piazza San Lorenzo, just a short walk from Palazzo Ducale and the Old Harbour, where guests can visit the aquarium or depart on boat tours of the Riviera di Levante to Camogli or Portofino.

All the monuments, churches and museums of historic or artistic interest in the old town can be reached in less than five minutes on foot through a network of pedestrian streets, piazzas and steps that, along with the area bordering the old town, make up Genoa's main shopping district.
The location is also ideal for evening, because all the most important theatres and cinemas and popular nightspots are concentrated in the old town.
