This late 18th century rural house was originally used as a granary and has been in the hands of the present owner’s family for five generations. The architecture is typical Alentejo – simple lines and whitewashed walls that help keep the visitor cool in the summer. The house has been decorated with family owned objects, which added to the owner’s hospitality give it a homely feel. Outside there is a swimming pool, stable and even a small river nearby, whilst the cellar has an attractive games room complete with snooker table. Monte Alerta also commands excellent views of the attractive village of Monsarraz. Don’t forget to try the first-rate breakfast.

Menhires around Monsaraz:
There are two giant menhirs just way from the Reguengos road; at Outeiro, Bulhoa (with symbolic engravings).Further menhirs lie at São Pedro do Corval ( 12 Km from Monseraz) and at the Monte do Xadrez.

ll	Tips & Getting There

From Seville: Take the road in direction of Huelva/Merida and follow the N630 toward Merida. Some 20 miles (30km) after Seville turn right at the sign for Portugal and Aracena. Cross the border at Rosal de la Frontera follow on some 20 miles until Serpa, then turn right in direction of Moura. (From here on in you will go down some pleasant country roads). Continue towards Mourão and then on to Monsaraz (Note: do not go to Reguengos de Monsaraz, which is a different place and some 2/3 miles away). The road will lead you past Monsaraz, which should be on the hill to your left. Carry on downhill for 1 mile and at the entrance of the village of Telheiras turn at the sign of Monte Alerta.Our phone if you require further info during your travels is 00 351 966 042 832.
