| Time seems to move more slowly in the Alentejo and lovers of its outstanding coastline, blue skies and horses will surely find Papa Léguas a heavenly location. Everything here is propitious for a delightful stay, for this old farmhouse is located within a 6,000 square metre estate and only 1 km away from the wild Atlantic - in the heart of the Vicentine Coast Nature Reserve. In fact, nature is always nearby. All four rooms, for example, lead out onto an open terrace where the visitor can breakfast or barbecue (feel free to use the one available) with just the sky above. The farmhouse itself, with its gates, rustic Alentejo decor and quirky personal touches (witness the lights in the bathrooms) is also an open invitation to relax. Alternately you might want to pick up one of the available bikes and head off to the nearby beach, ride the local horses, or canoe on the Mira River. Papa Léguas is undoubtedly an excellent value for money accommodation. |

Odemira
Opening its way through hills and valleys to the ocean, the river Mira describes at a certain point a singular deviation. This was the place chosen, thousands of years ago, by Roman and Arabic people to settle down. The river gave Odemira it's name and it's importance along the centuries. The official charter was conceeded in 1256 by the king D. Afonso III to Odemira, which consequently has contributed for the community's development. The village has expanded along the mountain slopes with its beautiful white houses ornamented with colourful flowers.
Vila Nova de Mil Fontes
In the the open Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, Vila Nova de Milfontes is one of the places in great demand during holidays. The beaches are its main attraction, although lately the clear waters of river Mira and its beautiful estuary became another place looked after.
Santa Clara-a-Velha
Is a small rural village where it is still possible to encounter the authentic Alentejo.The popular architecture of whitewashed houses crossed by an intense blue, typical of this region, and the small Church in the main square deserve an attentive look.
Zambujeira do Mar
Still remains as one of the last paradises on Alentejo's southwest coast. Its beaches constitute one of its most important attractions, but there is a lot to discover along the coastline, part of the protected area of the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. On the top of the cliff, the small village, witness since ancient times of the population's fishing activities, is the perfect natural terrace to stare at an amazing ocean's view.

| Take the A2 heading south and make the Sines exit. Once there take the highway to Sines and approx. 2 km before arriving in Sines you will eventually find to your right the Sul Algarve sign, make a turn there and follow the signs for Porto Covo. You will see the Portuguese electricity company (EDP) and approx. 5 km from there make a right to Porto Covo. Once you made this turn, follow the sings for Vila Nova de Milfontes. Once arriving Vila Nova de Milfontes don’t head for the center, go over the bridge on the Mira River following straight ahead to Zambujeira do Mar.Follow all the signs until you arrive the last one: “Zambujeira do Mar 1 km”. Monte do Papa Leguas is 100 meters ahead on your right. |
