Now here’s a interesting concept. Take the rural (and beautiful) spirit of the South west Alentejo Natural Park then create a modern, trendy place to stay. The Alentejo is actually known for its simple homely accommodations but that’s the Naturarte for you – different, stylish, avant-garde, yet in tune with the magnificent landscape - an ideal base from which to explore this delightful region. At the Naturarte, you will find a variety of works of art, many actually produced by family members and exhibited internationally. Modern thinking also involved modern technologies and the whole house uses renewable energies, water control and other high end equipment which even optimizes plant water requirements. The rooms and houses themselves are actually divided amongst the Naturarte Campo (country) and Naturate Rio (River), which are themselves separated by some 7 km. The latter is made up of seven houses, bound by the River Mira and ideal for those looking for seclusion - a paradise of peace and even breakfast is served without any time limits: just as well as odds on you will oversleep here. The Campo is perhaps more traditional, what with its public areas, rooms and houses, but even here, the Naturarte concept is strong. Just because you’re in the heart of Portugal’s most rural region does not mean forsaking, wi-fi internet, DVD and air conditioning, for example. And with this, you also get country and hill walks of great beauty with stunning views of the plains, ocean and river. There are many activities to enjoy, including fishing and water sports. There’s also a fine swimming pool to enjoy. Though it is located in the “Campo” House, guests at the Rio are also free to use it at any time.
