Oltre Il Giardino
Venice - Venice
Bed & Breakfast
Number of rooms: 6

One of our greatest pleasures is finding somewhere that does things differently and Oltre Il Giardino – On the far side of the garden – is surely it:

• A garden with olive trees, magnolia and pomegranate. Venice may be stunning but sometimes a glass of wine in a beautiful garden in a beautiful corner of paradise is unsurpassable. Likewise breakfast outdoors in the summertime is an almost spiritual start to the day.
• Beautifully turned out, Oltre Il Giardino is very stylish but doesn’t take itself too seriously, think comfort, lovely soft beds, plenty of rugs adding a homely feel and an overall air of cool, calm sophistication.
• Six bedrooms means you’re not just another guest. Welcome to personality, charm and attention to detail.
• Shun sterility. You’ve got a great location in one of the more authentic areas of Venice; enjoy your two minute stroll to the grand canal, a cappuccino on the Zattere looking out across to the island of Giudecca and Palladio’s Redentore, a “spritz” - the quintessential Venetian aperitivo in Campo Santa Margherita.
• Of course a haunt of the classics is essential; the Rialto bridge is just five minutes away, St. Mark’s Square just 10 minutes more.
• The beautiful rooms, refreshingly large for Italy, are elegant and stylish preferring softer tones and a low-key elegance. Woods, tile-work and warm colours keep things simple but inviting. You should really be out and about enjoying yourself but rest assured that high speed internet is at hand if you can’t escape work. All of the rooms look out onto trees and greenery providing a little oasis in the city of canals and passageways.

There’s not much more to say, it’s beautiful, got a stunning position, a charming host, Lorenzo and is waiting for you! Click on the photograph above to see some more shots of Oltre Il Giardino and then plan your dates quickly as this lovely Bed & Breakfast is likely to create quite a stir.

ll Activities
Venice is for lovers of architecture, lovers of art, lovers of history, lovers of eating well and just plain lovers. Tiziano Scarpa, one of Italy’s most exciting contemporary writers and a local of Venice, noted this in his off-beat guidebook to the city, Venice is a Fish, warning about-to-arrive visitors to:

“Put on your darkest sunglasses: protect yourself. Venice can be lethal. In the old quarter the aesthetic radiation is dangerously high. Every glance emits such outstanding beauty….”

You can’t avoid it. We could tell you where to go, but it will follow you everywhere nonetheless. The beauty will hit you at the 8pm aperitivo, at the produce market by the Rialto in the early morning; Venice is the most beautiful of backdrops, your piece of romantic theatre whether alone, with your beloved or with friends.

ll Tips & Getting There
Your various options depend on your finances and where you arrive.

If you come into Venice Marco Polo Airport, there are two options:
James Bond-like jump in a water taxi/speed boat, very classy but classily priced too (70 Euros +). Alternatively take the Alilaguna boat to San Marco and from there you can hop on to the 81 or 1 vaporetto until the San Tomà stop, having remembered to buy your transport tickets back in the airport.

If you are coming from anywhere else in Italy then your arrival point will by Piazzale Roma (by road) or the train station both of which are at the top of the Grand Canal. Either way, hop on to the number 82 or 1 vaporetto, heading down the Grand Canal, and jump out at San Tomà. From there you have a just a two minute walk to the doors of Oltre Il Giardino Bed & Breakfast in Venice!
