A real taste of history and magic in the lagoon city

This is the real deal - nothing false here - for what you get is a real 16th century palace where even the period masterpieces start off with the building itself and not just the décor. Just witness what the Palazzo Abadessa has to offer: frescoed and wooden lacunar ceilings, polychrome windows with leaded glass looking out onto the canal, magnificent “embracing” type staircase (the only one of its type in Venice, by the way) that looks out onto the canal and which also houses the hotel’s private docking area, atrium with marble flooring, etc, etc. That’s just for starters, for the fine decoration inside takes in authentic antique furniture, precious silk fabrics and paintings from the Tintoretto school. Small wonder, therefore, that guests have included such luminaries as Turner and Monet, Byron, Ruskin and Thomas Mann. They would have certainly appreciated the attention to every detail and comforts. Each room in this elegant Venetian relais is also unique – a precious jewel so to speak, where pieces were chosen individually with special care and attention – hence the original antique furniture from the 1700's, Murano glass lamps, antique Venetian mirrors and damasked silk wallpaper. The garden is also one of the “hidden treasures” of the Palazzo Abadessa with its secular trees, multi-coloured, scented flowers and marble benches on which to relax and read a good book, or simply smell the lilies. All in all, a magical place for those looking to get the real feel and history of the Marine Republic that is Venice.
