Peaceful natural retreat in one of the best preserved coastlines of Europe
Located in the heart of the Southwest coast natural park between the excellent Arrifana and Monte Clerigo beaches, the Lago Silecioso was conceived right from the start as an ecological resort, one to do justice to this wonderful stretch of littoral.
Views of the coast and beautiful Monchique Hills are superb and all accommodations come with a garden and terrace and are designed in a manner to guarantee the visitor privacy and enjoy the vistas. It makes for an excellent place to enjoy and explore nature, whether countryside or the Ocean, and being romantic, peaceful and silent (even the name of “Silent Lake” gives this away) gives it top markes if what you are looking for is that get away from it all feeling.
Whilst comfort is everywhere, from the rooms to the apartment to the common areas such as the patio (notwithstanding the simple nature and philosophy of the place), the Lago Silencioso takes its eco credential very seriously. Water capture systems, solar panels and even natural residue treatments through the use of plants all vouch for that, as do the biological agriculture which are as tasty as they are natural. Activities include the use of mountain bikes, as well as small boats to sail on the lake (around 8000 m2 in size).
It is also a beautiful trip (and quite close by) to Lagos, perhaps the prettiest town on the Portuguese south coast and other typical villages. Peaceful, natural, romantic – and silent.

From Lisbon:
Follow A2 southwards till the Sines/Grândola exit. Follow to Sines > Porto
Covo > Vila Nova de Milfontes > Zambujeira > S. Teotónio > Odeceixe > Aljezur.
After reaching Aljezur follow EN 120 towards Lagos. About 500 m after leaving
Aljezur, you will find on your right a sign to the beaches (Praias). Drive to
Praia da Arrifana and follow the wooden signs of > Quinta do Lago Silencioso.
From Faro:
Follow Via do Infante up to the Lagos/Bensafrim intersection. Head for
Aljezur and after about 20 Km (500 m before entering the town) turn left
towards Praia da Arrifana. Then follow the wooden signs of > Quinta
do Lago Silencioso.

“My partner and I stayed here in August and the experience was fantastic. The silence and tranquillity are absolute and if you add to this a giant bed, an ample and delicious breakfast and a luxury treatment, you can not ask for more. The hotel is surrounded by pine trees in a nature reserve close by to incredible beaches (Arrifana and Monte Cleric, the closest) and the town of Aljezur, where to eat or buy what you need. And to a fault, the wasps that were determined to have breakfast with us every morning. Highly recommended.”
