Super fusion of French taste and oriental charm in the heart of the Medina

As a fusion of the best in Gallic and Moroccan, the Riad Kaiss is superb. The sense of French style and use of space is all there, thanks to Christian Ferre’s hard work and impeccable taste. Christian, a former architect, spent three years renovating this precious Riad and in the process gave it a distinctly contemporary edge, yet with an unmistakable one thousand and one nights feel to it, which is further enhanced by the Riad kaiss’s excellent location in heart of the medina of Marrakech. Indeed, the Moroccan personality is also evident as soon as you step inside the Riad with objects hanging from the wall, such as the eight lanterns placed outside each bedroom. As befits a top Riad, all the rooms are arranged around a central patio where the fragrance of citrus fruits emanating from the orange and lemon trees and the peaceful gushing of the fountain is unmistakable, thus putting you immediately in a Zen like frame of mind. Enter the rooms and all are beautiful (the suite in particular is an absolute gem), and red rose petals sprinkled on the pillows, fresh earthy red colours, Moroccan tiling and modish fittings and fixtures await you. Then, of course, there’s one of the Riad Kaiss’s piece de resistance, the pool, surely one of the loveliest in Marrakech. Two sumptuous living rooms, again mirroring the French and Moroccan dichotomy (one is very much in the French style the other more eastern in atmosphere) plus a hammam further up the plus points for an enchanting stay.
