Wonderfully authentic Azzate hotel
As with other Five Senses hotels, the philosophy of the Locanda dei Mai Intees is one where everything is possibly done to literally set the senses free – genuine cuisine, wonderful views, the aromas of old Italy and superb furnishings. And so it is with the Locanda dei Mai Intees, a perfectly restored 14th century house, surrounded by verdant vegetation and garden that gives the feel more in keeping with a countryside accommodation rather than the city hotel it is. Even here, though, the city is special for we are talking about the beautiful medieval town of Azzate. Guests will find the authentic Italy here and a warm friendly ambience. It really is a captivating place, the old age of the building being matched by many of its furnishings and pieces, hence, the 15th century frescoes and stone fireplace, wooden beams, fabrics and laces to name just a few pieces, though there are many more. Everything is done in magically soothing warm, earthy colours. And so are the rooms, we may add, each single one having been given a female name. Particular note must go to the room in the tower which is simply stunning, as are the views of the Lombard Alps. As with other hotels of the group, food is an integral part of the experience here and the in-house restaurant will not disappoint, not only in terms of cuisine but also the extensive wine list and frescoed room.

From the International Airport Milano Malpensa
- By car:
from the airport take the highway to Milano, then the A8 Motorway (Laghi), direction "Varese". Exit at "Buguggiate - Lago di Varese" and follow the marking to Azzate. Turn right at the first roundabout of Azzate , direction "Municipio". You find the Locanda situated beside the Municipio in the centre of the town.
- By train:
a train leaves for Varese every 45 minutes : time expected is about 20 minutes. Coaches (time expected is 15 minutes) and taxis (time expected is 15 minutes, about Euro 13,00) leave from the train station of Varese for Azzate.
- By taxi:
you can find taxis at the front of the airport (time expected 30 minutes, about Euro 43,00) .
From Milano
- By car:
from Viale Certosa take the A8 Motorway (Laghi), direction Varese. Exit at "Buguggiate - Lago di Varese" and follow the marking to Azzate. Turn right at the first roundabout of Azzate , direction "Municipio". You find the Locanda situated beside the Municipio in the centre of the town.
- By train:
from the Central Station with Ferrovie dello Stato or from Milano Cadorna Train Station with Ferrovie Nord you can reach the train station of Varese (time expected is about 60 minutes) than you can take a taxi or a coach.
- By taxi:
depending on the traffic 50 minutes at about Euro 90,00
From Lugano
- By car:
follow the marking to Chiasso, Como, Milano. Before the border you find the exit to "Stabio, Varese". Follow the road till Varese, then, before entering the town follow the A8 Motorway to Milano, after the marking to the autostrada you find the marking to Azzate. Turn right at the first roundabout of Azzate , direction "Municipio". You find the Locanda situated beside the Municipio in the centre of the town. |
