A super historical accommodation in Assisi offering comfort and a spiritual feel

Notwithstanding the heavy load of tourism in Assisi, and all that it brings with it, the fact remains that the birth place of St Francis of Assisi remains an astoundingly beautiful city. If you also look further out than the main arteries and thoroughfares, you can get that far from the madding crowd feel. One wonderful place offering such peace and tranquillity is the San Crispino Residence. In past lives it has been the home to a number of fraternities. Today, this 14th century historical residence has been transformed into seven beautifully apportioned apartments, exhibiting all the charm and atmosphere of such an historic location. Medieval arches and walls, vaulted ceilings, frescoes, private gardens, et al provide a quasi spiritual feel to the San Crispino. In fact, all accommodations that make up the San Crispino are named after odes by Saint Francis of Assisi, hence, the Beatitude, Brother Fire, Mother Earth, Sister Water, Sister Moon and Stars, and Brother Wind. Each unit has been wonderfully decorated; whilst the original terrace that affords views of the ancient streets and churches of Assisi and the Umbrian valle are truly picture postcard. Wonderful frescoes adorn the windows, some of which have been restored by the finest Umbrian artists, using the same Giottesque technique used for the Basilica of St. Francio. The end result is a memorable stay in truly wonderful city. However many hordes of tourists you may bump into at certain times of the year, Assisi retains all the glory and beauty of times gone by and the San Crispino does it justice.

ll Tips & Getting There
From E-45 highway, you take Exit Assisi S. Maria degli Angeli and you drive in the direction of Assisi.
On your left from the main road, in a big round corner, you find Parking Porta Moiano, the nearest to our Historical Residence (less than 100 metres), which offers special prices for San Crispino guests. (speak to the Reception for further details).
However, on arrival, instead of parking here, you can drive into the historical centre through Porta Nova specifying that you are driving to San Crispino Historical Residence. You reach St. Clare’s square and then you drive across Via S. Agnese, which goes down on your left from the square.
50 metres far away, San Crispino Historical Residence welcomes you with its big wooden entrance door and a wonderful shrine dating back to the XIV century.
