The imposing and somewhat austere stonewall façade of this 18th century palace gives only a little hint of what is to come inside. The hosts, Angela and Pedro bought the hotel in ruins but being interior designers by profession they have managed to transform the place and imbue it with decorative flair. The central hall, for example, with its interesting wafer brick arches combines old world charm with fine antique pieces and some idiosyncratic paintings. The jewel in the crown, however must be the tromp l’oeil frescoes painted by the Polish artist Jull Dziamski. The village of Briñas is also one of the loveliest in the whole La Rioja region making the hotel an ideal base to visit the local mansions and churches - a legacy of the region’s 16th century Golden Age. An historical footnote. Brinas was once the headquarters for Italian soldiers based here during the Spanish Civil war, though nowadays the only thing to attack the senses is quietude.

The Dinosaur Route
La Rioja is crowed with ancient footprints that take us back to the dinosaur era. There are all kinds and sizes of these footprints and fossils. The route starts in Munilla, Canal de Peñaportillo, and takes you to Enciso, Valdecevillo. In Cornago you have to visit the Barranco de los Cayos that has the footprints of the ferocious carnivorous dinosaurs. On the way to Igea there is a fossilized stem of a tree, beautiful example of the vegetal petrification. The route is completed by a visit to Préjano, Navalsaz, Soto de Cameros, El Villar, Muro de Aguas, Grávalos, Cabezón, peroblasco and Villarroya.

Palaeontological Center of Enciso: dedicted to the investigation of the remains of dinosaurs.

Monastery Route
Starting off in Logroño you will find the city of Nájera approx. 27km away, where the sovereign's of Navarra residence was. You should visit:
Santa María la real Monastery
The San Millán monasteries of Yuso and Suso
On the way to the Ebro Valley you will find the Cañas Monastery

ll	Tips & Getting There

From the A68 motorway:
Coming from the A68, take exit number 8 (MIRANDA-ZAMBRANA) and then go onto the N-124 in direction of LOGROÑO. After a few kilometres, you will pass the LAS CONCHAS tunnel and less than a kilometre after that you will see a sign indicating LABASTIDA-LAGUARDIA. The hotel is some 300 metres after the sign.
