Excellent value for money lodging some 25 minutes from the sea by foot
The Son Josep de Baix is, in our opinion, one of the best value for money accommodations in Mallorca, approx. 5 km to Monacor. Though a working farm rather than made to measure hotel – every so often, one hears the gentle tinkling of the bells as the sheep are herded away – comforts levels and decoration are of good quality, though given its rural status, hotel type facilities and services is not what you'll find here. Rather, visitors will enjoy the best of agri-tourism, from the madding crowds. In fact, the Son Josep de Baix is near the Caló d’es Serral, a coastline which, depending on the time of year, comes with or without sand. It is also great for fishing and scuba diving. The place itself is built in the sober Majorcan style with buildings being distributed around a large courtyard, at the centre of which there lies a well and cistern. It comes replete with trees, creeper shades and enough nooks and crannies to play hide and seek all day. Traditional stonewalls and clay ceilings mix happily with some modern designs and furniture but the overall balance of good taste is always maintained. There are also apartments to choose from making this an even more attractive proposition for families looking to get away from it all. Kids especially will love the generously sized swimming pool, scenically surrounded by trees. |

To get to Son Josep de Baix, the best route is Palma - Manacor, once you reach Manacor go in the direction of Calas de Mallorca, when you reach the crossroad between the Manacor road and the one that connects Porto Cristo and Calas de Mallorca, go in the direction of Calas de Mallorca, the first road on the left is the one that leads to Son Josep de Baix. |

Well, apart from the simple fact that we try to include only what we consider to be the best accommodations, there’s another important reason to bear in mind. Any hotel that receives 3 negative feedbacks is automatically taken out of our selection:
A peaceful retreat with excellent facilities - we stayed in an apartment that was extremely clean, had very efficient air-conditioning, had everything that we need to self-cater and on our arrival, we even had the basics provided such as water, tea, coffee, fruit, eggs and cheese. Someone had even provided fresh herbs in a vase just in case we wanted to be ambitious with our catering! Everything was spotless and the rooms were very spacious. The little seating area outside was very convenient - we ate our breakfast outside accompanied by some friendly chicks! We especially liked the pool area - again very quiet and had lots of loungers (no fighting over them with the other guests who were charming and friendly).

An amazing place! The web pictures don't give it justice! The apartment was spotlessly clean, spacious, light and airy. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and were provided with complimentary fresh fruit, milk, coffee and herbs etc. We were also provided with towels, soap and a safe in the bedroom. A really relaxing, peaceful place to stay.
