This is how the Algarve should be. We all know of its excellent all year round climate but instead of adding bricks and mortar to the mix, what it really deserves are places in tune with the natural surroundings, peace and tranquility. Indeed, what it really needs are more places like the Tapada do Gramacho.

This renovated farm lies within 7 hectares of land bordering the river Arade near the historical village of Silves and uniquely situated in a nature and bird watching area. What you get is the wonderful feeling of an old Portuguese farm with modern comfort and luxury - all set up in a peaceful place full of rest, space and nature.

You won’t hear the hordes of tourists or car horns, rather the natural sounds birds singing, crickets and the wind blowing in the reed.

Yet the place is not old world fuddy duddy. Under the auspices of a renowned architect, it was turned into a surprisingly trendy accommodation. This also goes to any of the 3 well apportioned self catering apartments or 6 suites which all come with comfortable spring beds, high quality mattresses and rain showers.

Despite being a peaceful oasis, the Tapada do Gramacho is surprisingly central. A 10 minute car drive will take you to great beaches, golf courses, restaurants and several towns.

Tapada do Gramacho is in the middle of the Algarve. Within one hour you are in Spain or in Sagres, the most westerly point of Europe. But most things you want to do or visit take just 5 to 20 minutes by car. And when you return after a trip to Lagos or having played golf, paid a visit to the beach, you can completely relax at Quinta Tapada do Gramacho. From the moment you turn on the track to the Quinta, you feel the peace and quietness.

Golf
The Algarve is a true golf paradise. Within a few miles you 'll find several courses.

Beaches
Large variety of beaches. (10 to 15 minute drive).

Kitesurfing
The Tapada do Gramacho is only some 15 minutes away from excellent kite beaches.

Silves
In the time of the Moors, Silves was the capital of the Algarve. (5 minutes away).

ll	Tips & Getting There

Navigation system
If you have a navigation system, you can use the following destination coordinates: Latitude 37°10'31.81" N, Longitude 8°28'6.91" W.

Unfortunately Tom Tommy is not completely reliable in the Algarve. The last part of your trip to Tapada do Gramacho is an unpaved dirt road. It is not on the maps of navigation systems. So keep this description at hand! Don't hesitate to call if you need help: +351 919667048.
Directions
1.From the airport, take the A22 motorway towards Lagos and Portimão. From this A22 (or IC4) take the exit N124-1 direction Silves.
2.Once on the N124-1, before you have reached Silves, take the exit "Estaçao".
3.At the first roundabout, go right (the first exit).
4.At the second roundabout, go straight (1st exit) and direction Arrochela/Estombar.
5. You are now on a poorly paved road. At the moment the road surface changes into a better quality and you see the lines on it, drive another 1.1 km before you see a STOP sign with 3 large stones below.
6. Go sharply right here and follow the dirt road.
7. After about 700m we will welcome you at Tapada do Gramacho!
