The cute little name of this place gives two cryptic clues away. Firstly, that it’s wonderfully relaxing, secluded and great to just while away the time (the lazy bit) and secondly that it is very much in tune with nature and that it produce its own organic olive oil (the Olive part). But even so, it does not prepare guests for what this brick and stone farmhouse and its surroundings have to offer, which is almost beyond description in terms of charm and panorama - but we’ll try anyway. Let’s start with breathtaking 360 degree view across rolling hills, replete with the gentle hues of ochre, jade green and brown. The vistas alone seem to act as a magical remedy to relieve any stress life throws at you, and any right thinking person will take advantage of the many treks available in this part of the world - but there’s more. The 17th century house itself, though not palatial, is also beautiful, a triumph to the skills of the husband and wife team of Daniela (an architect by profession) and Malcolm (an Art historian) in maintaining a balance between the traditional and the modern that preserves the heritage of the house and Tuscany in general. Recycled marble sinks, modern kitchen built in the traditional style) and careful use of farmhouse doors, amongst the many things to admire, provide a stunning environment from which to relax. The 5 large apartments, of course, carry on this vein affording utter privacy and peace. So here’s a suggestion. Our idea of a holiday – a lazy holiday – would be a breakfast on the terrace, morning coffee in nearby Asciano, lunch in a traditional restaurant, a walk through the countryside, a rest, and then a swim in Finerri’s pool, ending with dinner of course. Perfect!
