A brand new hotel where Philip Starck meets the Algarve countryside
Rural idyll meets Philipe Starck is how best to describe the recently opened Vilacampina. Or put it another way, this is a true countryside hotel, surrounded as it is by the colours of the orange trees, the brown of the land, which then combine with mainly white of a minimalist style interior and exterior. The first thing you’ll probably hear as you wake up is the crowing of the local rooster, but as you open your eyes, they will be treated to clear white lines and décor not out of keeping in a sophisticated European city. This attention to design has brought with it many advantages, not least the fact that each room has been thought to come with a terrace from which to enjoy the views of the flatlands of the Tavira regions. Other advantages are the trendy paintings hanging from the whitewashed walls or the lampposts scattered throughout. Then there’s the location, 5 miles from Tavira, perhaps the Algarve’s most pleasant, unspoilt town, and within a stone’s throw from some of the Algarve’s best beaches makes the Vilacampina an attractive location for those wishing to enjoy the Algarve’s best bucolic charms yet enjoy a number of activities, many of which can be organised by the hotel itself. The recent addition of an excellent new swimming pool further adds to the Vilacampina's charms.

From the airport: Take the main road and head north. This will take you to the A22 motorway. Once there, head in direction of SPAIN/OLHÃO and eventually take the TAVIRA exit. On the road to TAVIRA, go straight on at the 1st roundabout, at the 2nd roundabout turn right direction OLHÃO, then straight on at the 3rd roundabout onto the 125 main road still in direction of OLHÃO (please note: don't go into Tavira itself).
Once on the 125 road carry on for some 7km until you arrive at Luz de Tavira. In town you will see a square on the right with a church. Turn right, follow the one way system to the right round the square and watch for the brown sign to VILACAMPINA (it will appear on the left side of the square). Follow the signs (1st you go left then straight on. Proceed down a small bumpy road and watch for sign to Vilacampina on right, turn right and go to the junction by a large watertower, and turn left. Villacampina is about 1km down this road on the left. |
