Villa Allun can be found in Essaouira’s historical Medina, right between the city walls and facing the Atlantic Ocean. This charming house that has been recently renovated includes three double bedrooms – each on a different floor. The ground floor, where guests meet, has a comfortable living room to settle in with a fireplace that can be most welcome on the odd cold winter night. Next to it is the dining room with a large table and a small open kitchen – the type one finds in a modern home. Decoration is pure Morocco, with oriental arches spanning the length of the room, a small fountain endlessly spouting water and the traditional decorative techniques: tadelakt, zellige y bejmat. Bedrooms (that could be easily called suites) have a kitchenette and a fireplace. They all have Berber features in the interior design and a very Moroccan bathroom. The traditional roof terrace brings us a 360 degree panoramic of the surroundings and it’s an excellent place to relish on the local delicacies prepared by the kitchen personnel, whilst listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. We are very close to the souks in a traffic free Medina, where walking and nosing around is a delight – and the beach is just ten minutes away.
