Oualidia is justly famous for its beautiful beach, spectacular lagoon, landscape and... oysters! This is the oyster capital of Morocco and fishermen sell these locally at a dime a dozen. But what really struck us was the beach and lagoon - it really is something else (unless of course you have a real fondness for oysters). And just five minutes away from the beach, the Villa La Diouana really is an excellent place to make the most of Oualidia’s natural attributes. This sophisticated forties villa even overlooks the lagoon and to give it that added luxury has been completely refurbished using a combination of modern and traditional Moroccan techniques. All rooms have moucharrabieh woodwork and tadlakt (polished plaster) floors. With only three en-suite bedrooms available there’s also no chance of overcrowding here either, so you won’t be sharing that panoramic view of the ocean with many other people. This is especially true when wondering through the one acre walled garden planted with palm trees, eucalyptus, hibiscus, oleander and bougainvillea. It all makes for an unhurried pace and stay, one where by day you can sunbathe or snooze on the roof terrace, gaze down at the lagoon far below you or, by night, simply look up at a panoply of stars, with only the roar of the sea and the rustle of wind. Possibly with a few choice oysters to add that extra touch.

ll	Tips & Getting There

Coming into Oualidia from Casablanca after passing numerous coffee shops and small slope, you will see an open space on your right with a green and white tower at the lower end. Turn right in the middle of the open space onto a dirt track. Go straight ahed for some 200 metres until you get to a blue gate. You have arrived at the Villa La Diouna.
