A wonderfully located and authentic Rome hotel located in the heart of one its most typical quarters

The Villa della Fonte is one of our favourite value for money hotels in Rome. Simple, no nonsense, spotlessly clean and really well located in a typical residential Trastevere quarter. With its maze of cobble streets cars can’t drive down the road, so this is pure Roma without the drone of tourists and cars - one full of folklore, traditional restaurants and bars - yet it is still only a few metres away from the Piazza Santa Maria and within walking distance from some of Rome major attractions. As for the Villa della Fonte itself, it started off life as a 17th century palace built on Roman ruins. Having been fully refurbished in 2000, however, means that it does not lack any creature comforts and the simple rooms are more than adequate, unless what guests are looking for is absolute luxury. There are few public areas, but the terrace where breakfast is served, weather permitting, is delightful and some guests swear the coffee served here is the best in Italy! In short, the Villa della Fonte very much retains the spirit of the locality and given its reasonable price and unpretentious charm makes it a Secretplace in every sense.

From Fiumicino/leonardo da Vinci Airport:
Take the train to Travestere train station and then tramway #8 till Piazza Belli, take via della Lungaretta (behind the green information point) at the end there is the Piazza Santa Maria in Travestere, first on the right Via Della Fonte D’Olio, 8 (then Chinese restaurant).
A taxi costs roughly 40/50 €.

From Ciampino Airport:
Take the bus to the underground (Line A – Anagnina – in direction of Battistini) till Termini train station. From there take bus # H till Piazza Belle, take via della Lungaretta (behind the green information point) at the end there is the Piazza Santa Maria in Travestere, first on the right Via Della Fonte D’Olio, 8 (then Chinese restaurant).
A taxi costs roughly 40/50 €.

From Termini train station:
Take bus bus # H till Piazza Belle, take via della Lungaretta (behind the green information point) at the end there is the Piazza Santa Maria in Travestere, first on the right Via Della Fonte D’Olio, 8 (then Chinese restaurant).
A taxi costs roughly 10/15 €
