Un oasis bucólico en el Algarve

A diez minutos de Vilamoura, se encuentra un bucólico paraíso representado por la “Cebolla Roja”, por darle a la quinta su nombre hispano. En varios aspectos es una descripción adecuada, ya que a los huéspedes se les saltan las lágrimas pidiendo “más”, una vez que han experimentado una estancia aquí – aunque el nombre viene realmente de unas cebollas que se cultivan en un terreno rojo y fértil donde crecen. Esta casa, con su siglo de antigüedad, está rodeada de uno de los paisajes más pacíficos que pueda ofrecer el Algarve. Se ha conservado el diseño original del edificio, con paredes pintadas de rojo y amplias habitaciones que combinan sin esfuerzo con la arquitectura portuguesa. El mérito hay que dárselo a Ard y Noor, una acogedora pareja holandesa que han transformado la Cebola Vermelha en este encantador alojamiento. Olivares con árboles centenarios y una magnífica piscina y jardín que invitan a los huéspedes a hacer...pues nada. Aunque la Cebola Vermelha no tiene un restaurante como tal, la cocina es una parte importante de la estancia aquí. El desayuno incluye varios tipos de pan, cruasanes, mermeladas caseras, queso, yogur, fruta fresca, zumo de naranja, café o té, etc. – y, durante tres días a la semana (martes, jueves y sábados) los huéspedes pueden disfrutar de la excelente cocina de Ard, utilizando los mejores productos de la tierra. También es posible comer algo ligero o un sándwich en la piscina. Si la paz y tranquilidad acaban cansando, hay un sofisticado centro comercial a diez minutos.

Coger la Autopista A2 desde Lisboa y al llegar a Algarbe seguir por la Autovía Don Infante. Si viene desde Sevilla al llegar a la Frontera con Portugal coger la Autovía Don Infante. Girar en la salida Boliqueime y coger la primera calle a la derecha. Enseguida después girar a la izquierda. Seguir en frente hasta encontrar un muro blanco rústico que es La Quinta en Campina.

Stayed here in June 2006. The description is very accurate and it is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable, the pool area is very nice (and very clean).

The owners are very friendly and helpful (do take their recommendations for local restaurants, you will not be disappointed), but do eat at the Quinta, the food is fantastic. Breakfast is superb and the evening meal even better.

If you want somewhere to relax and chill out, this is it.

We discovered a sparkling jewel in the central algarve, named quinta da Cebola Vermelha. The owners, a fascinating dutch expat couple, have meticulously crafted a stunning inn with the ambience of classic portuguese decor together with all the modern conveniences. the rooms are spacious, immaculate and beautifully decorated. guests have access to a large living room (with honor bar), attractively landscaped gardens and refreshing swimming pool. the accommodations alone are well worth an extended visit of a few days to explore the algarve. the location (4 minutes from exit 11 of the A22 expressway) makes for a superb base to enjoy daily side trips. THE FABULOUS FOOD, however, constitutes the true reason for staying at the quinta. Tthe owners are gourmet chefs, worthy of at least a star!! while the delicacies of their cozhina (kitchen) are available only on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays, the owners provide a virtual 'ZAGAT SURVEY' of area restaurants. last but not least, the quinta is a FUN place where you can join local residents for an early dinner before retiring to the quiet solitude of your room for a restful nights sleep and the anticipation of an alfresco breakfast (included in the reasonable rates).... best regards,
