Casa Maria Luísa

Casa Maria
Luísa is located within walking distance of the historic town of Angra do
Heroísmo on one of the islands of the Azores archipelago, called Terceira. The
city of Angra do Heroísmo is famous for its ancient fortifications San
Sebastião and San João Baptista. This beautiful and extraordinary landscape is
ideal for people who are looking for a cultural and recreational environment.
This superb estate dates back to 1739 and has been in the
hands of the present owner’s family since 1872. São Carlos is situated in a
noble suburb of the beautiful UNESCO world heritage city of Angra do Heroismo.
The setting is quite idyllic and charming with a magnificent 8000 sqm garden
with a big swimming pool surrounded by lush vegetation. The architecture of the
main building is typical for 18th century Portugal - pink washed walls, simple
lines and windows - whilst the interior decor is notable for its classical
ambience, period antique pieces, paintings and some oriental carpets. The rooms
are simple, yet elegant and comfortable. Anyone wishing to venture out from
this charming environment will find plenty of local activities to indulge in,
such as golf, fishing, mountain climbing and tasting the local cuisine. Worthy
of note and totally recommended is a trip to the volcano Monte Brazil if you
like a good view. This traditional manor house is certainly one of the most
delightful and welcoming accommodations of the Azores.
