Imagine a place, untouched by cars and pollution, away from the big city noise, where you can fall asleep under a sky exploding with stars whilst listening to the gentle whisper of sea breeze and the waves washing up onto shore. Imagine waking up to the sound of little birds singing and children laughing, the taste of a fresh homemade breakfast, and the sight of palm trees swaying in the breeze by the sea.
It sounds like paradise, and that's what you'll find at Pousada Thaynã.
Before you arrive at the pousada, you'll have to leave your car and take a boat, similar to a canoe, across the river and then take one of the small donkey ridden carriages with your luggage to the pousada. As you enter, you'll see the large living room, where you can socialise with other guests and even your hosts. The hosts themselves are lovely and very accommodating. There is a garden, where you can sit back and enjoy listening to the sounds and smells of nature. The rooms are simple but cosy and come with everything you could need. They each have a veranda, with a hammock, and some have sea views. They are decorated with art depicting the local Pataxo people, an indigenous tribe to Bahia, who still live in the reservation in Caraíva.
From the pousada, you can enjoy the tranquil beach, untouched by mass tourism, and the local restaurants on the riverfront. Be aware that the paths are all dirt paths and cars are not allowed on the small peninsula so you must be able to walk these.
