Imagine driving down a pretty country lane and discovering an old watermill. Cross the tiny stone bridge, open the gate; walk up bougainvillea covered steps to a second cottage on a sunny patio.
That’s what you get with the Azenha do Corvo, two very lovingly restored and tastefully decorated cottages, set in 5000 metres of unspoilt woods of oaks and ferns, a charming garden, sunny patios, a lovely pool and sun deck, topped off with the luxury of peace and quiet.
In fact, it’s ideal for two couples who choose to see each other or not as the cottages are apart from each other and have separate outside areas. Only the swimming pool serves both cottages, as they each have their own unique character and grounds.
A small description of both:
The XVII century Azenha (The Water Mill). The loveliest of cottages, Portuguese style with a romantic bedroom with a fireplace on the ground floor. A little stream outside the window, which you can hear serenely flowing. Also comes with a cosy attic living room and a beautiful bathroom with dressing area on the lower floor. The Azenha comes with a charming kitchen for two on the patio.
The Casa do Burro (The Donkey House) The other cottage, known as the "donkey house", comes with an airy bedroom, a dressing area, bathroom and a pretty living room. Across the patio, there’s a real, large country kitchen with fireplace, barbecue, comfy armchairs and a wonderful outdoors dining area overlooking the woods. Great fun to eat in the warmer months of the year. For both places it is best to have a car.
Whichever one you choose, due to the layout of both houses, the place is more conducive to a romantic getaway rather than a family with small children. Note: A fruit basket, fresh flowers and bottled water will be provided for arrival. The fridge will also be stocked for breakfast (please advise if you have special requests).
There is daily cleaning - except Sundays.

What a wonderful place full of peace and quiet. It is picture perfect and could be right off the Architectural Digest. We loved it and it was the best vacation. Hope we can come back next year.

Wish we could have stayed longer
We wish we could have stayed longer than a week, but we will absolutely go back - we feel very pleased to have found a place that has exactly what we ask for in a holiday. We highly recommend this place and reckon it would be ideal to get another two friends and rent both cottages together"

Can't recommend it enough
We stayed at Azenha do Corvo in August 2010 and really we can't recommend the place enough. Paola was friendly, easy to deal with and clearly knows what her customers want. The place was designed and decorated with love and it didnt just look good, it was lovely to live there too, we felt like we lived there after the first day. It was peaceful and cool in the shade and we loved the hammocks, the pool and the cushion area where had lunch most days.
We took all the restaurant recommendation and weren't disappointed - the fish and local produce were so tasty. We particularly loved the weekend market 5-10 minutes walk away where we got fruit, nuts olives, cheese and bread - amazing. When we weren't relaxing in the house or garden, we drove around to the local attractions that were so nearby - amazing to have so much to do on the doorstep, beaches, walks, Cascais, Sintra, the palaces, the monastery.

It’s so beautiful here… it’s almost beyond words. We had a wonderful time here. Thank you very much for creating this little paradise.
