Domu Antiga - a boutique hotel in country house style, which will also conquer your heart by storm. Located in the historic center of Gergei, this hotel especially stands for high exclusivity, stylish interiors, good value for money, warm hospitality, tranquility and central location, as it is situated in the middle of Sardinia.
In 2013, the father-son team Amaldo and Samuel transformed the old house into a perfect reconstruction of a farmhouse of the 19th century. A small piece of happiness was born in Gergei. All four bedrooms are upstairs and are characterized by their high beams, French windows, small balconies and facades of stone, giving the rooms a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Whitewashed walls, fresh flowers, polished- and terracotta floors and antique dressers with rustic porcelain refine the overall picture.
The breakfast is well worth it, to roll out the big wooden beds: They serve you the best Sardinian delicacies; either in the loggia, on the lawn or at a table in sight of the fireplace – as you please. Among the dishes belong: cheese, ham, salsiccia (salami), homemade cakes and biscuits, homemade rye bread from the own wood stove and seasonal fruit (apricots, peaches, figs, grapes, melons, exotic prickly pears). If you want fresh eggs, you can collect them yourself; they will be processed for you.
Even authentic Italian dinners are available on request. The offered menu varies depending on which season it is, but many dishes include grilled vegetables, fresh pasta (such as ravioli or malloreddus), local game and cheeses. To these meals, a good bottle of wine or a well-known Sardinian specialty, the myrtle liqueur, is served.
The area of Domu Antigas consists of sparsely populated wilderness, olive groves, rocks, canyons and stone towers. These are perfect conditions for hiking-activities. After just a short drive away, there is the world heritage site of Su Nuraxi; the most famous nuragic settlement, from 1500 B.C. The view over the plains from here is simply breath-taking!

Domu Antiga

We had the most wonderful stay at Domu Antiga and would highly recommend this as a charming place to stay in South Sardinia. The food was outstanding, the family running Domu were so friendly and gave us great local advice - we did their cooking course on one day which was a fantastic experience. The room and building itself are beautifully decorated, retaining the charm and original features of the old building. I cannot fault Domu Antiga and hope to return again very soon!

Domu antiga is a beautiful, unique place which I highly recommend. We stayed there for one week which we will never forget for sure!
The food (Breakfast & dinner) are freshly prepared and homemade. The rooms are clean and outstanding.
Plus, the location is a great place to explore the south :-)
