With world-class museums, incredible concert halls and art galleries, you will be able to enjoy endless cultural experiences when exploring this region. Rhenish-Westphalian cuisine

Rheinischer Sauerbraten in Cologne, Bergische waffles from Remscheid or French fries with Printen sauce from Aachen: NRW has many cities and thus also many different traditional dishes - sometimes hearty and sometimes sweeter than icing sugar.

One of our favourite dishes is the "Halve Hahn" from Cologne. It describes a rye roll with strong cheese and seasoning ingredients. The roll is generously smeared with butter and then covered with cheese, mustard and pickled cucumber. We recommend a cool Kölsch from the Päffgen brewery on Cologne's Friesenplatz.

City shopping in NRW

North Rhine-Westphalia is the most densely populated federal state in Germany and has numerous cities that are each unique. Indeed, 29 of the 80 major German cities can be found in NRW: it is a wonderful idea to do a city shopping trip during your stay. Our favourite cities are Cologne, Düsseldorf, Münster and Essen. In Essen you will find „Baldeneysee“, a beautiful Ruhr reservoir that serves as a local recreation area and perfect for water sports.

Münster is the bicycle city from NRW. At many places in the city you can rent a bike and explore the enchanting old town and the „Aasee“.
