Situated above a valley, the Quinta de Sant'Ana boasts glorious views of the most beautiful and unspoiled countryside, over vineyards, pear orchards and eucalyptus forest. There is hardly a sign of civilization in sight. A private drive leads to the houses, passing romantic old gates and olive trees. The five houses, swimming pool, and gardens have been built and decorated with great love for detail.

Stone steps from the fenced-in lawn behind the building lead you down to the large swimming pool. Swimmers have a breathtaking view and a sensation of swimming right out into the valley, as the pool overflows on the valley side. Ann's love for pottery, tiles, and all things terracotta has resulted in carefully selected and artistically combined fittings and decoration. So the large, open fireplace of Casa Marreco in the sitting room is made from one large piece of pink marble. The Adega house is an old wine distillery. All four houses have a fully equipped kitchen.

The Quinta de Sant'Ana is just a few minutes’ drive away from Ericeira, a sleepy fishing village coming to life in the summer when Lisbonites descend on the town for the season. Thanks to its incredible surfing spots and attractive center, Ericeira is a little town buzzing with charm and with much to offer in terms of food: the freshest fish and seafood, beautifully prepared and presented brings many regulars back year after year. Since it was declared a World Surfing Reserve small innovative shops, bars, cafés and surf schools are thriving.

The coast boasts some amazing unspoiled beaches so culture enthusiasts can easily combine itineraries to World Heritage sites such as Sintra, Tomar, Alcobaça, and Batalha with a dip or a bit of sunbathing. The region is dotted with farms and vineyards where small local producers supply the Greater Lisbon area with fruit and vegetables. A must to visit one of the oldest and most traditional rural markets in the country – the Thursday market in Malveira, an insight into tradition, an opportunity to buy directly from small producers, and a feast for the senses.
