We visited the Lime Tree Hotel by chance during a trip to London as it was not part of our itinerary, but we’re so glad we found it.

We fell in love with this hotel, the area and not least the hosts. It’s just such a friendly and hospitable place, plus the building itself is of special architectural/historical interest and has protected status.

The same family have been running the hotel for many years so they have had a lot of practice in developing the art of hospitality. It is now in the safe hands of Charlotte and Matthew. They place a lot of emphasis on interacting with guests and provide no end of suggestions to make the most of this fantastic city. And as this delightful couple state, they believe what most people visiting London want is simple: a clean and friendly environment, a safe, secure and central area, and a reasonable budget.

Following the recent conversion of the Lime Tree’s 25 rooms, tasteful decoration can also be added to the above list.

In terms of the surrounding area, it's pretty central being a stone’s throw away from Victoria Station and notable monuments within walking distance include Buckingham Palace and Harrods.

You can take your pick of Hyde Park and St James Park for a gentle morning stroll or shopping heaven in Oxford Street which is not that far away either.

Perfect place to stay in London. There is a fresh smell of flowers and lemon throughout the house. The only negative thing is the noise of the ventilation outsideand the cosy room is really small. Breakfast at the Buttery is fabulous.

I cannot praise this little hotel enough. Wonderful welcome; very helpful staff; delightful room and a superb breakfast. Having had an unfortunate experience in a hotel last year, I felt totally safe at The Lime Tree Hotel. I will recommend this hotel widely.

We had a lovely time at this hotel, in Belgravia near lots of restaurants and a short walk from Victoria Coach Station and a little further to the underground. We had room 12, which was at the back on the ground floor with a couple of steps down to it. The room had a small garden terrace with table and chairs and it was really quiet and peaceful which is amazing in London. Very small shower room but with a great shower. Really comfy beds. It was a 15 minute walk to Chelsea Flower Show. Breakfast was fantastic, waitress served, with the best porridge I've had and fruit. Plus toast and pastries. We didn't have the cooked breakfast but it looked great. We tried to book this through the hotel and they had a minimum 2 night booking which through Secret Escapes we could get for one night..

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. This is a perfect hotel for women travelling alone, as I was. Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast and clean and a good location. I would definitely stay again.

We arrived early in the day after a red eye flight from Bermuda. As expected there were no rooms ready yet, but the staff were very friendly and helpful storing our luggage and directing us to a nice restaurant nearby for breakfast. After breakfast and a short walk we returned again too early for a room to have been made up. However they took pity on two tired looking travelers and expedited the cleaning of one of the first rooms to be vacated and moved our luggage into our room for us. The room was comfortable, the breakfast in their dining room was excellent and the staff could not have been nicer. We would definitely return and recommend the Lime Tree to our friends.

The Lime Tree is a very charming, family run hotel. We have been warmly received at our arrival by the owner itself. The decoration is very tasteful. It is located in a wonderful quarter with small luxury boutiques and good restaurants and cafes and just a 5 minute walk from Victoria station. The breakfast was delicious with a huge choise served at the table. The winter price was really fair for London. We'll come back! My only suggestions for improvement: The bed was only 140 cm for two. Too small. :-( A reading lamp on one side of the bed was missing. The stairs are quite steep and there is no elevator. But our luggage has been carried up and down at departure.
