There are certain things one should consider as standard when staying in a luxury boutique hotel. King size beds, plasma screens, WIFI, style, the Dylan Hotel boasts all of this, and so much more.

Unlike many other design boutique hotels that try to be minimalist or “cool” for the sake of it, however, the Dylan is also brimming with warmth and no small amount of history. Perhaps because the building itself started off life in the 19th-century as a nurses boarding house – a 72 room accommodation with all the associated character it involves – but the end result here is a deliciously decadent luxury and imaginative fairytale charm in place of simply just sober design.

Leather padded walls and floral decorations go hand in hand with uber-cool seating arrangements. Custom antiques go hand in hand with Murano chandeliers, Bose iPod stations and even Bang & Olufson telephones. Located in one of Dublin’s exclusive, sophisticated quarters, it is also hard to imagine once you come to the Dylan’s Victorian façade (it looks beautiful at night, by the way as old fashioned street lamps outside the main entrance light the structure up).. By that we mean Grafton Street and Dublin’s happening cultural scene is only 10 minutes away by foot.

One word of advice: do try a cocktail at the Hotel’s bar. It’s a must during a stay here.

In short, the Dylan Hotel is a place to enjoy a delicious bit of luxury in the heart of Dublin.

Rather a good 4* than 5 star. Style is not everything... The carpet was torn, no gym, everything looked a bit worn. But the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, a very big plus!
