Il Frantoio seems to be one of those perfect places and it is definitely one of our favourite accommodations in the whole of Puglia.
Set in 70 hectares of olive groves and poppy fields, just outside the beautiful town of Ostuni, this sixteenth-century masseria not only has its own antique olive press but also produces the ingredients that Rosalba Ciannamea transforms each evening into a 10-course gastronomic voyage of discovery. The scent of orange blossom floats over the huge tree-lined stone courtyard, where guests dine at candlelight on warm summer nights.
The interiors are filled with carefully selected antiques and the decoration of the eight rooms, which still have their original wooden floors, is tasteful to the highest degree. In the morning you will be rewarded with a full lush breakfast, which includes a dazzling selection of homemade jams, bread, and cakes. All this combined with Armando and Rosalba’s unrivaled hospitality. All in all, it gives this place its own very special touch.
Guests have also the chance to make the most of two beautiful beaches on the nearby Adriatic coast. Others might simply want to venture out into the surrounding landscape, unspoiled, inspiring, and culturally rich as it is.

Beautiful area, lovely stuff, delicious food in a wonderful garden, very cool, down to earth, familylike… We can highly recommend the Masseria. (We had a room in an extra appartment house, Next time I would go for a room in the main house…)

We used the Masseria as a place to stay from which to explore and experience Puglia.. it was perfect in every way. A privilege to learn about the agricultural history of the area with the help of very friendly staff who were clearly proud of their heritage. The food and wine experience was special and of very high quality. The setting in the olive groves with all the spring flowers in bloom was magical. The location perfect for driving out to all parts north, south, and coastlines was good. We liked the quiet location outside of busy Ostuni. Others might not.

Staying at the Masseria was an all around lovely experience. We stayed there for 6 nights in a beautiful and welcoming environment with spectacular food and wonderful service. I would have loved to have the chef come to NYC and open her own restaurant!!! Of course she couldn't bring all the fresh vegetables from her farm garden though! Everything she made was exceptional. What a treat! Additionally, their products are wonderful.
