Wonderful atmosphere and welcome in the heart of the Dorsoduro, Venice.
The Dorsoduro is perhaps our favourite location in one of our favourite cities. The area is, of course, totally charming but without the usual added throng of tourist activity that sometimes blights the more visited areas.
It is here that you will find the Charming House DD724 (In fact the DD in the name stand precisely for DorsoDuro).
The name is definitely apt, for charming it most certainly is. The pre-nineteenth century building has been turned into a special little boutique hotel under the auspices of the architect Mauro Mazzolini, so despite its centuries old appearance from the outside, it is most definitely a forward looking boutique hotel.
So that, notwithstanding the smallish bedrooms, all are skillfully designed with beamed ceilings and dominated by hues of browns, whites and beiges.
Plus there you can always glance out to the wonderful views of authentic Venice, such as the Giudecca canal with its gondolas gliding over the water or the garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
Yet to this old world charm, modern touches are added such as flat-screen TV's in all rooms, high speed Internet and central heating. So for a wondefully located stay in Venice that’s close by to some of the city’s most important monuments and sights (as mentioned, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is a stone’s throw away, as is the Cini Palace and Galleria dell'Accademia - in fact as soon as you walk out of the door, you won’t know where to turn), yet still manages to be picturesque, peaceful and quiet.
Then the Charming House is definitely one to consider.
